Tyvak International, a Terran Orbital company, is seeking a talented GNC Engineer to help us enhance our satellite navigation, guidance, and control systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of Attitude and Orbit Control and Determination Systems (AOCS and ADCS), and Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms for our CubeSat platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop GNC/AOCS algorithms for CubeSats, including attitude determination and control, orbit control and station-keeping, by executing simulations and performing analyses to contribute to preliminary vehicle design.
- Develop flight system algorithms and implementations for small satellites, primarily using auto-coded MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, in coordination with the embedded software team.
- Define and size the vehicle control system architecture to meet mission and performance requirements.
- Develop, implement, and test ADCS hardware, including sensors and actuators.
- Contribute to the development of concept of operations, mission analysis and mission planning for CubeSat missions.
- Participate in team discussions on vehicle architecture and design for current and future projects.
- Analyze flight data and provide solutions for in-orbit anomalies and performance optimization.
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field, with a focus on control systems.
- Maximum 3 years of experience in GNC/AOCS design and analysis, preferably for CubeSats or small satellites.
- High proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink. Coding skills, in Python and C/C++, is being a plus.
- Strong foundation in orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics, and control theory.
- Familiarity with spacecraft hardware, including IMUs, magnetometers, star trackers, reaction wheels, and magnetorquers.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time control systems.
- Understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle control systems.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
