System Design Engineer

Mission/Purpose of Position
We are looking for a highly skilled System Design Engineer to join our System & Software Development team.
In this role, you will drive the definition of system requirements, design system architecture, and support functional safety activities for advanced automotive applications. You will collaborate closely with customers, internal R&D teams, and suppliers to ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, and final system behaviour.
This position is key in shaping technical product definition and ensuring robust, traceable, and high‑quality system design throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Requirement Management
- Analyze, interpret, and clarify customer requirements.
- Define, update, and maintain system requirements, configuration requirements, and interface specifications.
- Assess the impact of external requirements on internal system definitions.
- System Architecture & Functional Safety
- Develop and maintain system architecture aligned with functional, performance, and safety requirements.
- Prepare documentation for safety analyses and support customer‑specific S‑FMEA activities.
- Identify gaps between requirements and existing architecture and propose corrective actions.
- Support system‑level calculations and configuration management activities.
- Manage customer‑specific change requests.
- Communication
- Ensure effective technical communication with customers, internal teams, and global stakeholders.
- Communicate design decisions clearly and ensure alignment across development teams.
- Address and resolve inconsistencies between customer needs and internal specifications.
- Effort Estimation & Coordination
- Provide effort estimates for system impacts and requirement changes.
- Coordinate tasks across global engineering teams and contribute to synchronized project execution.
- Problem Solving
- Address complex system‑related challenges using structured methods (e.g., A3).
- Strong understanding of automotive system architecture design.
- Proficiency in requirements engineering and system specification development.
- Deep knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and ASPICE processes.
- Understanding of embedded systems, ECUs, and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Familiarity with model‑based design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Experience with V‑model development methodologies.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic architectures and domain controllers.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Excellent documentation and specification writing skills.
- Proficiency in English (advanced level).
- Master’s degree in Robotics, Automation, Electronics, Cybernetics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
- 3–5 years of experience in system design within the automotive industry.
- Experience in product system design and development in automotive.
- Leadership or coordination experience is considered a plus.
- Experience working with international teams is an advantage.
